First, I want to apologize to everyone who has reached out to inquire about purchasing a pipe or to ask what our status is in regards to available stock. We have been inundated with calls and emails for quite some time and I haven’t been able to respond to everyone. Truth is, I wouldn’t have been able to answer your questions with much honesty because even now I am not 100% sure when we will have all of the pipes back in stock.
If you don’t already know, we are a small, basically, family-owned and operated company. I’m the only none-blood relative on the team, but I have been here for 20+ years, so I think I am an honorary member of the dysfunctional family at this point.
It’s been just about two years since the shop burned down and yes, we probably should be running full steam by now, but it’s been more challenging to recover than we anticipated. The building that burned down wasn’t just a warehouse with a bunch of pipes and machines in it, it was decades of our lives. For the owner, Erik, it was as if his home burnt down or worse. Every guitar he had built and the designs for every guitar he was going to build, thousands of hours’ worth of work, drawings and blueprints for new pipes and musical instruments, decade’s worth of exotic hardwoods that had been collected, pictures and sentimental belongings from friends that have passed on, thousands of hours of recorded music and I could go on and on and on…, but what I am getting at is that it was a big hit and it’s been overwhelming, particularly with all the other hurdles going on in the world such as The Covid.
With all of that said, my purpose in sending this message is to let you know that we have a few hundred pipes for sale on the website. These are pipes we were able to put together with some parts the were not destroyed in the fire. Unfortunately, I don’t have any Fisherman’s Friends, but there are several colors of the Classic Monkey Pipes and some light finish Oregon Trails available to purchase. I think I may be able to put together some Jet Pals too. if so, I’ll get them up on the site as soon as possible.
As it stands now, we have a new building, we’ve purchased some new machines and things are finally starting to look pretty good in terms of getting production going. If we don’t run into any major, unexpected problems I think it’s reasonable to assume we will have at least a couple of styles available in roughly 8 weeks (give or take). We are planning on starting with Fisherman’s Friends and Classics. As soon as we have some more pipes made I’ll reach out via email again and let you know.
Thanks to everyone for your kind words and encouragement over the last couple of years. We truly appreciate it! We also appreciate your continuing support of our brand and of course we are very grateful for your business over the last almost 30 years.
We are excited to get the Monkey Pipes back out there and even more excited about the new, awesome products we will introduce to you over the next couple of years. Erik has some great ideas up his sleeve!
